What's Your Favorite Season?

I live in New England, where we have four distinct seasons, weather-wise. I think you do, too. What are the seasons like where you live in Iowa?

To give you an idea of the seasons here in New England, I am including some photos I have taken during each of the seasons.

I am starting with winter. As you can see we get lots of snow.

This is a picture from my back deck showing the snow as I was shoveling it off. Originally, the snow was as high as the top of the deck railing. We got 3 feet in this storm

New England is famous for its fall foliage. People come from all over the world to see it. Here are some pictures I took near my house this fall as the foliage was changing.

Many people like when spring comes because it means the end of the rough winter. The first signs of spring are the bulbs popping out.

These are from my front yard, and the photos sure are more colorful than the ones of snow on the back deck.

Summer is a time to be outside. Here where I live in Connecticut, which is between Massachusetts and New York, baseball is a big summer pastime. Because of where we are located, the state is split between the Boston Red Sox fans and the New York Yankees. Most of my friends are Red Sox fans, and many originally came from the Boston area. My husband is a big Yankee fan, and he has a season pass, with seats just 18 rows behind home plate. I am also including a photo of Mario Rivera, known as Mo, for short. As you might know, he retired this year after playing with the Yanks for many years, and he is known as one of the best pitchers of all times. I got to see him pitch at the second to last game of his career.

I should add about summer that a good part of New England is on the Atlantic Ocean coast. People here like to go to Cape Cod in Massachusetts or to the Maine or Rhode Island coasts. The ocean in Maine is known for being cold in the summer. Maine is one of the most northern states in the US. The water on Cape Cod is much warmer.

So what is your favorite season, and how do you like to spend it? Do you do outdoor sports? Do you travel during the summer or other times of the year to enjoy seasonal sports?

  2. My favorite season is summer because I like to spend time by myself and maybe a friend or two in the woods. I don't like to be in the woods with 5 other people because I like it when its quiet and peaceful, it's fun to spend it with people who appreciate the woods. I also like to go swimming in pool and my families pond with friends and family. I also love to climb trees during the summer because I can hear the birds 'singing' on the branches. In the fall I play volleyball and in the winter I play basketball but this year was my last year of doing basketball. I like to be in the plays during the winter after basketball is over. We are going to Adventure Land and go to the Lake of the Ozark's. My uncle has a lake house around there. What is your favorite season? And do you travel anywhere?

  3. Here in Iowa, we experience the similar four seasons you all do in New England. My favorite season is fall. I really enjoy jeans and sweatshirt weather. To me, the temperatures are perfect. I like to be in the woods or just being outdoors. I don't play any outdoor sports, but in the fall I participate in volleyball. I like spending my Friday nights in the fall, supporting our highschool football teams. In the summer, my family and I usually go to the Wisconsin Dells, which is about 2 1/2 hours away from where I live. In the winter, I play basketball, and in the spring I participate in track. What is your favorite activity? What places have you all traveled to?

  6. I like many of the seasons, but my favorite season is probably summer or spring. I love the nice, warm, sunny weather. You can always find stuff to do outside and inside. I love spending time outdoors and doing fun activities. In the winter I love being outside and spending time riding snowmobiles and sledding, but after awhile it starts to get old. I also love to go swimming and wear shorts and tank tops. What are your favorite seasons?

  8. My favorite season is autumn. Because of the smell, Thanksgiving, the leaves, and overall experience of it. I enjoy one of my favorite sports, Cross Country. It always feels great to run miles, when its cooler out, but not too hot. Not only that, I also like fall because you can get pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks. I'm really excited to blog with you!

  9. With every season I have things that I really do and don't like. I like the fall because that's when volleyball is and the weather is perfect for just going outside and taking a run. But, I don't exactly like it because that's when school starts, which I like, but it gets boring after a while. I like winter because that's when my favorite sport, basketball, is. But it's also really cold, snowy, and icy here in Iowa! Lately it has been super cold and there were a few days we didn't have school because of it. It was below zero a lot of the time, and the wind chill was even worse! I love the Spring because my birthday is in the spring and the weather is perfect most of the time. That is also when track is. One thing I don't like is that at the beginning, when the snow is just melting everything is wet and it's really muddy and the ground is mushy. And, just like fall, you can take runs a lot but you can't do that when the ground is mushy! I love summertime too because it's so nice and hot out, and even if it gets too hot outside you can either jump into a pool or go inside into the cool air conditioning. Sometimes it gets really hot and humid out though, and you just don't want to do anything. But there's no school which is definitely a big plus!!

  10. I like many different seasons. I love summer because it is usually always nice and warm. In the summer I can do many things outside and I love to be outside and always doing something active. I also like spring because the weather outside is usually warm and sometimes cool. There are four different seasons, winter, spring, fall, and summer

  11. Hi! My favorite season is summer, because of the warm weather and everything you can do during the summer months. Last year, I went to Washington D.C. for a month. I spent it with my aunt and uncle and their two kids, Morgan and Isaac. Morgan is four and Isaac is two, and now there's a new addition, Hadley. Anyways, I helped out a lot with the kids. I really enjoyed it, and hopefully I'll go out again this summer. I used to play softball in the summer, but since I went to D.C. I wasn't there too much. I'm especially excited for this summer because my family and I are going to Florida! It'll be the first time I've been there. McGregor, Iowa, is also famous for its leaves in the fall. You're so lucky you live near the ocean! How much do you go in the summer?

  12. Hello! My three favorite seasons are spring, summer, and fall. I'm not a big fan of winter, but I still kind of like it. I love spring because that's when the flowers in are bloom, and you get to see the grass without snow. The reason I love summer is because I can wear shorts and go swimming (my favorite thing to do). Finally, the reason I love the fall is because we have the most beautiful fall leaves. What are some other things you like to do in the summer?
